Job Description: Sports and Athletics - Physical Education - Outdoor Education Instructor
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team. As an Outdoor Education Instructor, you will be responsible for facilitating and delivering physical education activities in an outdoor setting. This role requires a strong passion for sports and athletics, along with expertise in outdoor education techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver outdoor education curriculum, ensuring activities are engaging, safe, and aligned with educational objectives.
- Plan, organize, and lead outdoor activities, including team-building exercises, group challenges, and adventure-based learning experiences.
- Instruct participants on various physical education techniques, focusing on skill development, proper form, and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to individuals and groups, fostering personal growth, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Implement risk management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during outdoor activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement innovative teaching methods and resources that promote active learning.
- Assess participant performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate skill improvement and achievement of learning goals.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and achievement, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and safety regulations in outdoor education and physical education.
- Assist in the selection and maintenance of outdoor equipment, ensuring its safety, functionality, and suitability for activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Outdoor Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Outdoor Education Instructor, Physical Education Teacher, or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of outdoor education principles, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Strong background in various sports and athletics, including but not limited to hiking, camping, rock climbing, kayaking, and orienteering.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate participants.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate group activities, promoting teamwork and personal development.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to plan and execute outdoor education programs effectively.
- Proficiency in assessing participant performance and providing constructive feedback.
- Current first aid and CPR certifications.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, based on program needs.
